Mount Maunganui’s beach is regularly voted the best beach in New Zealand and a must-see for anyone visiting the Mount for the first time. Main Beach (as the locals call it) is a 20 minute walk from The Reef. However, while it is generally a safe swimming beach, life guards are only on duty during the summer months.

If you time it right, there are often food trucks serving anything from coffee to quesadillas. Additionally, there is a range of cafes and restaurants only 5 minutes walk away in the Downtown The Mount shopping area.
